Kage

THOSE who have achieved the title of Kage (Kage? literally "Shadow") are the leaders of the five most powerful Hidden Villages and generally the most powerful ninja in their respective villages. There may be exceptions, however; for example, a ninja may be the most powerful at the time of being installed as Kage, but may become less powerful upon aging, eventually being surpassed by a more youthful ninja.

A Kage may retire and give the title to someone else; the title, once granted, is held permanently. This creates a case where there are two Kage at the same time, with only one of them actually active -- as was with the Fourth Hokage and the Third Hokage, where the latter had given up the title to the former, only to come out of retirement when the former died.

Their elite status is also attributed to the tendency for most Kage to have family members who were previous Kage, or be personally taught by a former Kage or student of a former Kage. Examples of this occurrence include Gaara, who succeeded his father as Kazekage; the Fourth Hokage, who was taught by the Third Hokage's student Jiraiya; Tsunade, granddaughter of the First Hokage, grandniece of the Second Hokage, and former student of the Third Hokage; and the Third Hokage who was taught by both the First Hokage and Second Hokage.

The five Kage have different titles depending on their village. Those titles are:

• Hokage (literally "Fire Shadow"?) Kage of Konohagakure.
• Kazekage (literally "Wind Shadow"?) Kage of Sunagakure.
• Mizukage (literally "Waterhadow"?) Kage of Kirigakure.
• Raikage (literally "Lightning Shadow"?) Kage of Kumogakure.

The anime introduced a sixth Kage, the Hoshikage (literally "Star Shadow"?) from Hoshigakure. However, this was a self-given title and not officially recognized by the five other villages. Orochimaru, founder and leader of Otogakure, is also referred to as Otokage (??, literally "Sound Shadow"?) by some fans. This is not an official title, as Otogakure is not recognized by the five great Hidden Villages as an equal nor is Orochimaru actually a Kage, though his abilities are on par with one, as he gains the upper hand in the battle with the Third Hokage.

Tokubetsu Jonin

TOKUBETSU JONIN (Tokubetsu Jo-nin; literally "Special High Ninja" English "Special Jonin", sometimes known as Tokujo- for short) are ninja who, rather than all-around Jonin training, have Jonin-level ability in a single area or skill, much like warrant officers of real-world militaries. They are elite specialists in their areas and are often assigned as subordinates to regular Jonin when their services are needed.

Jonin

JONIN (Jo-nin: literally “high Ninja”, viz “Ninja elite”) is generally ninja high-experimented with great individual ability that serves like military captains. Academy students

To ensure that only truly qualified ninja are promoted, only three Genin teams are allowed to pass. The test for determining which three teams may become Genin are administered by each team's respective Jonin commander, and vary depending on the Jonin.

What is required for graduation varies from academy to academy. In Konoha, the graduation exam is composed of some sort of written test, as well as demonstration of basic techniques. The only student ever to become a ninja without being able to use these techniques was Rock Lee. Naruto : Behind the scene

Masashi Kishimoto has stated that he developed Naruto's character from a character that he created in a failed manga about magic and fox spirits, without any of the ninja theming of the current series. Liking the character, Kishimoto decided to keep using him in the future. The character Kishimoto drew then had very little difference from the Naruto Uzumaki he draws now, all of them minor details. In Naruto's original design, instead of zori, traditional Japanese sandals, Naruto wore boots, and also wore the goggles he had at the beginning of the current series. It is also because "drawing the goggles was a pain", Kishimoto says, that he came up with the idea of the hitai-ate, the headbands the ninja in Naruto wear. Naruto had also worn a frowning smiley over part of the jacket in the original design.

For the character's name, he chose "Naruto", in reference to a ramen topping called kamaboko, which is a sliced stick with a pink whirlpool-like design in the middle. The reason why he chose this name was because Ramen was the character's favorite food in the series. The character's surname "Uzumaki" is a pun on "spiral" (??), while "Uzumaki" refers to a three-dimensional spiral, like a whirlpool or vortex. A more accurate translation for spiral would be "Rasen". The series is seen to make frequent references to spirals, The Konoha village symbol for "leaf" is drawn with an arrow attached to a spiral. Also, Naruto's clothes adorn spirals; but mostly, the demonic seal around his navel is a spiral. One of Naruto's attacks later in the series is called the "Rasengan", which literally means "Spiraling Sphere". "Uzumaki" can also mean "whirlpool", in reference to the Naruto whirlpool (?????), named after the city of Naruto, Tokushima. Another reference to this can be found in Naruto's mother, Kushina Uzumaki, who hails from the Whirlpool Country.

October 10, Naruto's birthday, was Health and Sports Day ("Taiiku no hi") in Japan when his character was conceived – a holiday full of physical activity fit for a hyperactive kid. The holiday, however, was moved to the second Monday of October in 1999.

Kishimoto stated in an interview in the U.S. Monthly Shonen Jump that he got inspiration for the character from his own childhood while he was enrolled in school.

Akatsuki ??

Akatsuki (meaning "Dawn") is a fictional organization of criminal ninja in the anime and manga series Naruto written by Masashi Kishimoto. All of the members are criminals as they have betrayed their village of origin and banded together for the ultimate purpose of world domination.
